(08-Jul) -- Double Olympic champion Mo Farah has been forced to withdraw from this weekend's Sainsbury's Glasgow Grand Prix, part of the IAAF Diamond League, due to an illness, his management company revealed.

Farah, who lives and trains in Portland, Ore., was forced to go to the hospital in the USA with abdominal pains last week.  He is now undergoing further testing in Britain with the British Athletics medical team.  He had planned to run the two-mile event in Glasgow.

“Sorry to everyone in Scotland but I won’t be able to make it there this week," Farah said in a statement.   "I hope to resume training in the next few days and aim to run in the London Anniversary Games on July 20, and then the Commonwealth Games the following week."

Farah, 31, resumed competing on June 15, in Portland after making his marathon debut last April at the Virgin Money London Marathon on April 13.  He won the 5000m there in 13:23.42.
